All female artists

So today I have a bunch of female artists to check out:

Fauxliage- Canadian band with Leigh Nash from Sixpence None the Richer. Catchy, and her voice is really great. "Draw My Life," is my current favorite. Her solo album from 2006 is really great too, check it out!

Holly Brook- Most people heard her with Fort Minor in the radio hit "Where'd You Go." Her album is entitled, "Like Blood Like Honey." My favorite tracks off the album are: "Giving It Up For You," "Wanted," "What I Wouldn't Give," "Heavy," and "Still Love."

Courtney Jaye- Not my favorite but the song "Lose My Head" is pretty catchy.

Joanna- Again her whole album isn't my favorite stylistically but I really enjoyed her cover of "Screaming Infidelities," and her song, " 4th of July" was not bad either.

Hope Partlow- The album is from 2005 but the songs are catchy still so have a listen to that as well

Lastly, Dana Glover. Her song "Thinking Over" is one of my favorites, but the album "Testimony" is altogether good as well. 2002 album, but like usual I like to throw in some stuff from a few years back as well as the new stuff :-)

Just wanted to say again, check out Army of Me's album "Citizen," I have been hooked on it this week! "Walking On" is another great song.

Older song that I just heard again, "Crazy" by Brynn Damon. Simple, pretty. And I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit partial to her because of her name :-P

And a song from last year: "Empty," by The Click Five.

Put a smile on my face

Well tonight I watched last week's Grey's Anatomy and I was happy to hear Jon Foreman's "Cure For Pain" played. This fall when he released his first seasonal cd I thought that song would be come popular at some point, and low and behold it got played on a show :-) yaaaay. I always love hearing good music played in shows.

Spring music

Maybe it's because I actually have time to look for new artists during spring and summer but I always seem to find my favorite artists during this time of year...I'll be posting much more and I'm only going to mention a few artists in each post.

Aidan Hawken, specifically "Fly Straight." You can find it on his music myspace

Augustana's new album "Can't Love, Can't Hurt" is good. I love their single "Sweet and Low" which is playing on the radio right now.

"The Funeral" by Band of Horses, came out like two years ago but it's still a great song :)

"Beautiful World" by Carolina Liar. This is a new band I found that is alternative/americana. Check out their album, "Coming to Terms." It's easy listening and has fun beats.

NEW Death Cab For Cutie song "The Ice Is Getting Thinner"

"Time to Pretend" by MGMT (sort of an odd song, but fun)

Lastly, "Carry Me On" by Michael Rossback and "The Call" by Regina Spektor.

Have a listen!

Long time coming

Well this has taken forever to write in, life has been hectic. The following is a list of songs/artists to listen to. Some of them are mainstream and some of them a bit more obscure. Old music and new just listen to it, it's great!

"World Spins Madly On" by The Weepies
"Hands on Me" by Vanessa Carlton - This is off her new album and her voice sounds great, simple song but really good

"For the Widows in Paradise For the Fatherless in Ypsilanti" by Sufjan Stevens

"Pony," and "Pitterpat" by Erin McCarley. She is a new artist with a lot of talent. I had a variety of friends listen to her and they all really enjoyed her voice and music. Check her out!

"Keep Breathing" by Ingrid Michaelson

"I'm Yours" (Live from Saratoga!!!) by Jason Mraz. This live version is much much better than the radio edit in my opinion.

"Small" and "Love Me" by JJ Heller

"Fall For Nothing" by Mindy Smith (a little country sounding)

Artist of the week: William Fitzsimmons

This guy is SO good! "Passion Play," and "Funeral Dress" are my favorites. Check him out!

Lastly I wanted to mention a really great group I have had a great interest in for a while and I hope you will all take a look at and maybe take an interest too. It is To Write Love On Her Arms ( www.twloha.com ) take a look!!!

So much music!

Simple blog today

Artists to check out:
The Color Fred: Debut album is so good! "Hate to See You Go" is without a doubt the best song on the album, but there are some other great ones as well such as "If I Surrender." Check him out, used to be in Taking Back Sunday, really talented guy!

Hearts Last Surrender: Ok the guy in this band is an acquaintance of mine, was in a wedding with him not too long ago. Best song he has right now is "You and Me," his voice reminds me of Dave Elkins of Mae. Hopefully he'll be able to put out some more music because he's got a great voice.

The Graduate album "Anhedonia" has got some great songs. The title track, as well as "The City That Reads" are very catchy. I still love the song "Sit and Sink," but I liked the way it was originally recorded.

Graham Colton came out with a new album this fall called "Here Right Now." Hard to beat his last album "Drive," which I completely loved. However, the follow up is well done too. Pretty poppy, and really enjoy the songs "Can't Forget About You," and "Telescope," and "On Your Side."

Lastly, Falling Up, album named "Captiva," is on my top list of the month. I like every song I've heard. Album was produced by Aaron Sprinkle, who also produced Anberlin and the Almost. I love "Maps," "Goodbye Gravity," and "Hotel Aquarium," which are all on their music Myspace. So if you're interested in hearing them check out their myspace. Myspace.com/fallingup.

Just a few songs I like a lot:
"I Will Never" by Carmen and Camille
"Glory" by Communion
"They'll Never Know" by Ross Copperman
"Footprints" by Tayla Hodges (new artist, younger voice, but a lot of possibility)

Older songs I've listened to quite a bit today:
"All My Tears," by Jars of Clay
"Communion" by Third Day
"Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" by John Mayer

Album to listen to:
"Welcome to Reality" by Ross Copperman

First blog and explanation

Ok so I was telling someone the other day about how much I want to be a recording label scout and she suggested I write out bands, songs, and albums that I'm loving. So this is going to be my music blog, enjoy!

So for starters, on the mainstream side, the One Republic album Dreaming Out Loud, is really good. I heard their song "Apologize" in 2006 and and the older version of "All We Are" not too long after. Both were really great songs, but the latter of the two was re-done on this album and the new version is so good! Another great song off the album is "Say." Their sound reminds me of The Fray, easy listening. The beginning of "All We Are" makes me stop what I'm doing and just listen, so check it out!

Also, check out Landon Pigg. His single "Can't Let Go" caught my attention last winter, other great songs by him are "Great Companion" and "Coffee Shop." Keep an eye out for his stuff.

Lastly some Christian artists I'm loving: go to myspace (because I can't find them on I-tunes) and check out The Undeserving, specifically the song "Something Real." Take a look at the album "Even Heroes Need Parachutes" by This Beautiful Republic.

Songs/bands to check out:
"Right Now"- This Beautiful Republic
"Be Still"- Storyside B
"You'll Never Know"- Michael Rossback

Older songs to listen to:
"Hide and Seek"- Imogen Heap (The last minute of this song makes my heart ache!)
"So Alive"- Ryan Adams
"Honest Mistake"- The Bravery
